Dr Grazi recalls, “The thought of becoming a doctor came late to me, actually during my post-high school
stint in an Israeli yeshiva. I never thought about becoming a gynecologist. But I had an epiphany after my first year of medical school, when the first “test tube baby” was born. The birth of this one baby, and how it was accomplished, all seemed so exciting and fresh. It was something new, scientific but very artful, very out-of-the-box. I was interested in both genetics as well as surgery, so it was a good combination.”
In 2019, staff at Genesis went up to Albany for Advocacy Day and spoke with members of congress about IVF being a well-established, safe and effective treatment option for infertility; and for medically necessary fertility preservation coverage (for patients facing medical treatments that would cause infertility – like cancer patients.
Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield recognizes Dr. Richard Grazi, Dr. Katherine Melzer Ross, Dr. David Kulak and Dr. Tendai Chiware, who practice at GENESIS Fertility & Reproductive Medicine, as one of the first physicians to receive a Blue Distinction Centers for Fertility Care designation, as part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program.
